In April of 2021, the American Medical Association released survey results about prior authorization requirements, with the majority of doctors reporting in December 2020 that, despite COVID-19, health insurers had either reverted to past prior authorizations policies or never relaxed these policies in the first place, leading to care delays and abandoned treatment by patients.
