After Hours: Piano-Playing Ophthalmologist

Retired ophthalmologist Thomas W. Smith, MD, takes us on a musical journey of bringing music to his practice and his church. When he was seeing cataract surgery patients, Dr. Smith would often record and play his own music in the background in the office to connect with patients as a common bond, as he explains in his narrative. He continues to share his music to uplift others in his community. Dr. Smith’s play list includes tunes from musical theater such as “Without a Song” to big band-era favorites such as “In the Mood.”
