After Hours: The ReMissions

When Patrick Hwu isn’t leading research and clinical efforts as the president and chief executive officer of Moffitt Cancer Center, he is jamming out with fellow doctors as part of his band, The ReMissions. The group’s name symbolizes a clear mission at Moffitt Cancer Center: providing excellent care in the hopes of achieving cure in their patients. Hwu details his experience as a guitar and piano player, the teamwork that goes into performing alongside his fellow bandmates, and the diverse selection of genres he enjoys playing ranging from blues to Motown-styled songs. Above all else, Hwu emphasizes the number 1 rule he puts in place for himself, his bandmates, and anyone else who might be interested in picking up a musical instrument: to have fun.
